Iranian arts exhibited in Amsterdam

The Hermitage Museum in Amsterdam is holding a six month exhibition titled Persia: Thirty Centuries of Culture and Art.

The artifacts on display are on loan from The State Hermitage museum in St. Petersburg. The magnificent collection of Persian objects were loaned to the Amsterdam museum for a six month exhibition which started March 31.

The exhibition opens with the history of the ancient Persian Empire, the Achaemenids (648-330 B.C.).

Samples of Iranian ceramics, glasswork, miniature paintings, illustrated pages of Shahnameh (The Book of Kings) by the nation’s great epic poet, Ferdowsi, weapons, made of steel and gold and inlaid with colored stones, vases and dishes are among the showcased objects.

The exhibition which is considered to be a survey of Persian history will close September 16th.
