A.S.Pushkin Monument On A Place Of Duel

Life and work of Alexander Pushkin is closely associated with St. Petersburg. There has passed a youth of the great poet and the most mature years of his life and work. Tragic death of Pushkin occurred on January 27 (8 February) 1837 in St. Petersburg, on the left bank of the Black River (now Kolomyazhsky Avenue).

For the centenary of Pushkin’s death in 1937, on the duel spot was installed an obelisk designed by architects AI Lapirova and EI Katonina, with bronze bas-relief of the poet by the sculptor M. Manizer.
