The exhibition consists almost entirely of paintings by the famous American artist Rockwell Kent (1882-1971).

Kent presented a large collection of his works to the Soviet people, and of these twenty-six are in the Hermitage. His landscapes reproduce the unique features of the sombre scenery of the North. The room also contains paintings by Maurice Pass (born 1891), Frank Kirk (born 1896), Alfred Henry (1868-1932) and James Wilson Morrice (1864-1924).
